Who We Are

Introduction-

National Soccer Club (NSC) is a private (not for profit) sports education and training organization aimed at developing the student athlete as a person and a player. On the field we provide a competitive training/playing environment intended to develop smart, strong, skillful, successful players through a commitment to excellence guided by the fundamental characteristics of discipline, hard work, honesty, integrity, leadership, respect and teamwork. These values guide in the development of our student athletes as people off the field as well. Our players are taught to be good citizens, and role models for their families and communities.

History-

National Soccer Club (NSC) was founded in 2012 by Director of Coaching Jon Evan with the help of a small group of talented and committed players, parents, and families. Today NSC exists as two separate entities; NSC North (ME) and NSC South (MS) affiliated in brand, name, and philosophy.

Mission (Vision) Statement / Philosophy-

National Soccer Club (NSC) has been formed for the purpose of training competitive players who seek more opportunities to train and play outside of the traditional Club and school soccer calendar.

NSC is not a traditional soccer club, it is primarily an Academy Style Group/Team training program offered through our training partner OWTFIT. NSC is made up of anywhere from 1 to 4 teams at any one time, yet we are all one team. NSC is a vehicle for competitive players who seek more opportunities to train and play outside of the traditional Club, Jr. High School, and High School calendar. The ability to play matches versus outside competition (Futsal in Winter and Full-Sided outdoor in Spring) will be provided through NSC. NSC maintains relationships with outside organizations, clubs, and teams (MLS, NASL, USL, USClubSoccer and USYF) and in addition to our training focus will put together a meaningful, and appropriate program, and schedule to ensure the development of each player, and team. NSC trains and plays specifically during the winter training phase, and in the spring, and early summer.

In particular NSC aims to provide low or no cost training to under-served players in both rural and small urban centers where access to high level training and coaching (with professionally licensed and educated coaches) may be limited. The club infrastructure is small and utilizes the help of parent volunteers, so the players/families will not have to pay the high costs typically associated with club sports.

Our club philosophy supports scholastic sports and encourages players to train to get better for their school team and play other sports as well. Much of our training is done academy style and scheduled to prevent conflicts with school soccer and other varsity sports.

In addition, it is not our intention to compete for players with other clubs, just to provide an environment where players and teams can grow, and develop to their fullest potential with high level training and coaching (with professionally licensed and educated coaches) and other competitive players.

 Objectives-

  • Provide access to high level training and coaching (with professionally licensed and educated coaches) for under-served and or economically disadvantaged groups in particular in rural and small urban centers.

  • Provide student athletes with Physical Education and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

  • Educate student athletes about opportunities to advance as players and guide them toward higher education opportunities.

 Benefits-

Our professionally licensed and educated coaches and trainers provide comprehensive training programs to teach players skills and tactical awareness with emphasis on passion for the game and having fun. Our focus is to build both the mental and physical skills of the game, while preparing our players to be not only competitive athletes, but also better citizens.

Team Principles

“Toughness Trumps Talent”

1. Represent yourself, family, team and your school with class.

2. Know your role and accept it.

3. Be on time (early), be prepared, and work hard in class and on the ball field.

4. Give an honest effort, and enjoy what you do.

5. Character counts, do what you say you will do. Do things the right way without cutting corners, tell the truth.

6. Outwork your competition at practice and on game day.

7. Have a workman like approach to everything you do.

8. We are a family, a program, and part of something bigger than ourselves.
